Challenges You Face When Teaching Online

With education worldwide being thrown into disarray by coronavirus, more and more educators are being forced to teach their students from home.

You might not have signed up for distance teaching, but in true teacher style it’s time to throw the lesson plan out the window and make the best of a bad situation.

Some of the main challenges of distance teaching you may face are listed below:

  • Isolation
  • Lack of motivation in online learners
  • Staying connected with students
  • Encouraging collaboration
  • Technical difficulties with online teaching tools
  • Time-consuming resources
  • Setting and forgetting online learning activities.

  1. i think that the main challenges in learning online is that students engagement is not exactly applied and motivation, some students open the meeting and do not really attend.

  2. I think teaching online by itself is a challenge...Unfortunately, many things are missed especially in Lebanon (poor connection and lack of electricity), training the teachers and many other issues.

  3. Time- consuming resources was one of the major challenges I have faced during the online teaching. Planning a lesson might take more than 7 hours for online implementing, while the same lesson could take about 30 min to be planned during a normal school day.

  4. Yes time-consuming resources is really a big challenge. When I was forced to teach online, I had to spend many hours preparing the material to be presented in a way that suits my students needs. And when it came to assessment here was the biggest challenge, I had to prepare questions that make cheating difficult but it was somewhat impossible hhh.

  5. I strongly agree concerning the part of the technical difficulties, especially in country like Lebanon where we lack the proper equipment and the whole current situation is discouraging such as the poor internet connection and power cuts.
